History
Izmalkovo is a country estate of the Samarin family near Moscow, which existed from the 18th to the early 20th century. The main building
of the estate was a two-storey wooden house, plastered “to resemble stone” in the Empire style.
In 2015, the Government of Moscow transferred the estate for 49 years for free use to the Podari Zhizn Foundation, which supports children with oncohematological and other serious diseases.

Concept
In 2019, a plan was approved for the restoration and adaptation of the Izmalkovo estate building complex as a boarding facility. The bureau worked on the project together with the restoration company Center for Integrated Development.
2020-2022
design period
The restoration company restored the exterior appearance of the estate complex buildings, while the bureau created interiors that meet the needs of children with special health needs. It was important for the project to combine a careful attitude toward the historic environment with
a new humanitarian function: to create a calm, safe,
and comfortable space for living, rest, and recovery.
