Marianna Petrenko is an architect, interior designer, gallerist, co-founder of the cultural center Elohovskiy Gallery, and the founder of the architectural bureau BOMAR.
Marianna Vladimirovna Petrenko was born in Moscow on June 15, 1986. She graduated from an art school with honors in 2000 and enrolled at the Stroganov Moscow State University of Arts and Industry. While studying at the university, M. Petrenko joined Vadim Buynovsky's workshop at Patriarch's Ponds.
During her education, Marianna has identified her primary area of interest and dedicated her thesis to a cultural heritage site, a monument of constructivism — architect Konstantin Melnikov’s garage. Marianna developed a concept for its adaptation into a museum.
In 2013, Marianna Petrenko opened her own architectural bureau — Architecture Bureau by Marianna Petrenko, and since 2014, she has focused its activities on working with heritage, actively participating in projects for the preservation and restoration of cultural heritage sites.
One of Petrenko's bureau projects was the adaptation of an 18th-century historicalmansion in Elohovsky Lane. While working on the project, Marianna Petrenko did not limit herself to restoration only - she founded a gallery in the space, uniting under its mosaic vaults the ideas she had always supported — the intertwining of the historic spirit and architecture of the place with the contemporary context and its needs. According to the tradition introduced by Petrenko, the main feature of the Elohovskiy Gallery exhibition remains the combination of artworks by artists of different generations, thus demonstratively negating the power of time over the great ideas and emotions encapsulated in each piece.
Successfully completing professional retraining in the "Reconstruction and Restoration of Architectural Heritage" program and receiving certification from the Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation in the field of heritage conservation as an architect, Marianna decided to dedicate her creative activities to her primary mission fully by working on projects that will complement the rich historical heritage of the country and preserve it for future generations.
At the end of 2023, Marianna Petrenko's bureau went through re-branding process and now it's called the Bureau of Modern Art and Architecture Revival (BOMAR). Its geographical influence has been extended long beyond the country by showcasing realized projects in various parts of the world — the bureau's portfolio currently includes more than 20 cities, and this number continues to grow. While actively working on contemporary architectural projects, the bureau's main mission remains to be the revival and preservation of Russian architectural monuments.
Marianna Petrenko is an honorary member of the Union of Artists of Russia, a member of the Russian Association of Restorers, and holds accreditation from the Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation in the field of heritage conservation as an architect.
